Position: Partner & Head of Fintech
Location: Zurich
Workload: 100% full-time
Objective
The Partner & Head of Fintech is responsible for building and leading the firm’s fintech practice and advising clients on all legal, regulatory and transactional matters related to financial innovations.
Responsibilities
- Strategic legal advice on the regulation of the fintech sector, including compliance with Swiss and international financial market regulations
- Supporting clients in obtaining regulatory approvals and licences from FINMA and other global authorities such as CSSF, MFSA, FMA, CIMA and BaFin
- Advising on payment services law, including PSD2 compliance, e-money regulations and digital payment infrastructure
- Advising on crowdfunding and crowdinvesting models, tokenisation of financial instruments and investor protection regulations
- Ensuring clients’ compliance with AML/KYC frameworks and assisting in building robust governance structures and internal controls
- Providing expert legal support in blockchain technology, crypto-assets, token offerings and DeFi models, including regulatory classification and licensing
- Advising on data protection and data security, including GDPR, revised FADP and industry-specific cybersecurity requirements
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts for the fintech sector, including partnership and joint venture agreements, technology and licence agreements, investment and financing agreements
- Maintaining and expanding long-term client relationships through high-quality service and proactive engagement
- Developing business development strategies, contributing to thought leadership (e.g. articles, webinars, events) and representing the firm at industry conferences
- Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and associates, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing
- Ensuring compliance with internal quality standards, billing targets and operational goals
Requirements
Education
- Swiss bar admission and top-tier qualification
- Excellent academic qualifications in law (Master’s degree / doctorate)
- Additional studies in commercial or financial law
Professional experience
- At least 10 years of proven professional experience as a lawyer, preferably in a partner role at a law firm, an auditing firm or in a senior position in the legal department of a bank or asset management company.
Languages
- Confident style, good English and German skills
- Additional languages (e.g. French, Italian) are an advantage.
