ROLE DESCRIPTION
Viking Cruises is currently seeking a Junior Logistics Manager to join our Logistics team in Basel, Switzerland, supporting our Ocean and Expedition fleet.
In this role, you will support the coordination and execution of worldwide logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-efficient delivery of goods to our fleet.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders (Purchasing, Onboard Operations, Inventory) as well as external partners, including our global logistics provider, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with internal (procurement department) and external parties (freight forwarders, suppliers, and port agents) to ensure planning and deliveries are made in a timely manner.
• Work closely with the shipboard team and suppliers to ensure that all products needed for the operation are on board at all times.
• Follow up on service level issues with all vendors; invoices and credit notes registration and approval in cooperation with the accounting team
• Support the ships in case of deviations, delayed deliveries, or emergency orders, including coordination with freight forwarder for redirection of cargo to ensure the ships have all the supplies they need.
• Identify local regulations and restrictions and ensuring documentation is compliant.
• Support the Logistics Department in planning and monitoring freight cost and freight operations for ships under management.
• Manage process improvements in the areas of logistics and operations as well as special projects within the procurement team.
• Comply with all corporate and ship standards and procedures, including following all policies and safety and environmental procedures.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in coordinating logistics and procurement activities.
• Knowledge of international shipping regulations and procedures is nice to have.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• A can-do mindset, with a strong focus on delivering superior guest experience as well as a focus on costs and budgets.
• Flexibility and stress resistance, team player, commitment, positive personality, professional appearance.
• Analytical mindset with a strong knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to travel both domestically and overseas.
• Fluent in English language, additional languages a plus.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working in maritime, cruise, hospitality, or similar operational environments
• Exposure to purchasing and supply chain operations within an international organization
• Experience working with inventory or logistics systems
• Experience in project management
