What you can look forward to.
At the SBB Intervention, you are ready around the clock for emergencies. Over 80 modern emergency vehicles on rails and roads are in operation. What makes this profession unique? You are a rail specialist, train driver, and firefighter all in one. In the event of an incident, you ensure the safety of our customers and help to restore rail traffic as quickly as possible. Attractive working conditions are important to us.
What you can achieve.
- In an alarm situation and during exercises, you deploy as a train driver with the fire and rescue train alongside your team, ensuring the safety of our customers.
- In incidents affecting rail traffic, you share responsibility for protecting people, animals, the environment, and rail infrastructure.
- On site, you ensure the safety of all travellers, fight fires on and beside the tracks, provide oil and chemical spill response as well as technical assistance. The use of drones helps to quickly assess the situation.
- You regularly train various workflows and techniques to ensure smooth incident management at all times. You work Monday to Friday in a 24-hour shift system and are on call at weekends. Irregular working hours are the norm with us. In return, you can enjoy free ski slopes during the week and have more flexible leisure time.
What you bring with you.
- Thanks to your strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness, you understand the dependencies and impacts on your team and your work. Team spirit and community are important to us, and you can always rely on your team. This includes enjoying working independently and being physically and mentally resilient.
- You have completed a vocational apprenticeship with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ). You already hold a driving licence for traction vehicles in category B100 or are willing to complete the corresponding internal paid training.
- You hold a driving licence in category B and ideally also category C1 118.
- You are certified for respiratory protection and have experience as a firefighter.
- You are fluent in German (spoken and written).
- During the application process, we will require a current criminal record and debt enforcement register extract (not older than 3 months). This document can be requested when invited for a personal interview.
Your salary and benefits.
Classification during the second training depends on the role and age. More details about the specific salary for this role can be found at Lateral Entry .
