The University of Bern is among the 150 best universities in the world. The Chair of Quantitative Methods in Business Administration represents the areas of Operations Research, Analytics, and Operations Management in research and teaching at the Department of Business Administration.
We are filling a PhD and assistant position starting February 1, 2026, or by agreement. The goal of the research is to develop methods of Operations Research for application in project management.
Tasks
- Innovative research in the field of Operations Research in Business Administration with the aim of producing a dissertation
- Participation in courses at the bachelor and master levels
- Supervision of theses
Requirements
- Successfully completed studies (University or ETH/TU) in economics, computer science, or mathematics related to Operations Research
- Enjoyment of analytical thinking, scientific work, and academic teaching
- German language skills at C2 level and very good English skills
- Advantageous: Knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Python) as well as optimization software (e.g., Gurobi or CPLEX)
