Head of the Office for Military and Civil Protection
Department of Justice, Security and Health | 80-100% | Chur
The Department of Justice, Security and Health comprises eight offices, including the Office for Military and Civil Protection Graubünden. As its head, you report directly to the head of the department and are responsible for protective measures, disaster management, as well as the leadership and training of command staffs. You coordinate contingency planning in civil protection, lead the areas of civil protection buildings and operations/training, and are responsible for the military tasks assigned to the canton. In your area of responsibility, you maintain intensive contact with federal offices, cantonal agencies, municipal authorities, and partner organizations of civil protection. Together with your employees, you ensure a solution-oriented and appreciative working atmosphere.
- Organizational, professional, personnel, and financial responsibility for the office with around 30 employees
- Leadership and coordination of the Cantonal Command Staff during disasters and emergencies in the canton of Graubünden
- Ensuring the implementation of tasks assigned to the canton under the Military Act and main responsibility for civil protection
- Management, support, and implementation of projects
- Initiation and execution of strategy processes
- Representation of interests in commissions, working groups, and roundtables
- Maintaining contacts with federal offices, cantonal agencies, municipal authorities, and partner organizations
- Further education at tertiary level and experience in managing emergencies/crisis management
- Several years of professional and leadership experience as well as staff work in a civil protection organization and/or an emergency services organization
- Knowledge and experience of cantonal political and administrative structures as well as procedural workflows
- Good knowledge of the geographical, political, and social conditions in the canton of Graubünden.
- Excellent communication skills, high social competence, and the ability to remain calm in hectic situations
- Additional cantonal language is an advantage
