About the job
The Sommerau school boarding facility is a social and special education institution offering services for children and adolescents with special support needs from 1st to 6th grade of primary school. For over 170 years, Sommerau has been established in a natural setting in the upper Basel region and is well networked in the educational and social area of Northwestern Switzerland.
The boys and girls are socially and pedagogically supported in four residential groups, attend the internal special school at primary school level, and subsequently attend external secondary schools (public schools) or vocational training in the region.
We are looking for a
Special Education Teacher 70-80 %
You will work as part of the school team and enjoy developing something new. Three school social educators are also part of the school team, who additionally and specifically support the children inside and outside the classroom. You show willingness to substitute for a class if necessary.
We work strength- and solution-oriented and place great value on interdisciplinary collaboration with the social pedagogy of the residential groups.
You bring with you
- Special education training / primary level diploma (advantageous)
- Joy and experience in working with children with special needs, behavioral issues, and learning difficulties or willingness to acquire the corresponding skills
- Openness to new ways of teaching
- Interest in building a learning environment together with a teacher
