Controller with a Focus on Digitalisation (m/f/d)
The Controlling department is part of the School Management area of the Vice Presidency for Finance and Controlling (VPFC) and supports the school management and ETH units in the planning, budgeting, and reporting process. It lays the foundation for transparent financial management at ETH Zurich and is responsible for designing financial management and control systems as well as the unification and standardisation of ETH-wide controlling processes.
To strengthen our team, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a committed, analytically strong, and digitally savvy individual as a Controller with a Focus on Digitalisation (m/f/d) who will actively shape the further development of controlling at ETH Zurich.
Job Description
- In your role as Controller with a Focus on Digitalisation, you actively shape financial management at one of Europe’s leading technical universities, accompany strategic projects, and introduce new technologies into daily financial control.
- You ensure efficient use of resources and create transparency through sound financial analyses, meaningful management information, and decision-making bases tailored to the target audience. You analyse complex financial contexts, identify areas for action, and derive concrete recommendations.
- You actively drive the digitalisation of controlling and continuously develop processes, control logics, and controlling approaches. You participate in cross-finance and cross-departmental projects.
- You support the standardisation and harmonisation of controlling instruments, data models, and internal management tools, help build BI solutions and automated evaluations, and develop contemporary dashboards in close collaboration with our colleagues from Management Information and Digitalisation.
- As a central contact person for finance, reporting, and analysis questions, you support departments, central units, and school management, bringing your controlling expertise into practice. Together with various stakeholders, you develop viable solutions for modern, data-based controlling.
Profile
- University degree in business administration or business informatics with in-depth expertise or further training in controlling or finance.
- Several years of professional experience (at least 5 years) in controlling.
- Solid experience in digitalisation, process optimisation, and SAP as well as in developing modern AI, BI, reporting, or automation solutions. You pragmatically use digital tools to efficiently further develop analyses and processes.
- Strong curiosity and enjoyment in critically questioning existing processes, testing new technologies, and developing innovative solutions for modern controlling.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills as well as the ability to prepare complex financial matters clearly, precisely, and appropriately for the target audience.
- Proactive, responsible personality with strong team and communication skills and a high standard of quality. You enjoy working across departments and value exchange with different stakeholders.
- Interest in the particularities of a university environment, sensitivity to different stakeholders, and very good German and English skills.
