With over 1,300 employees, the Department of Psychiatry fulfils a triple mission concerning the treatment of mental disorders, education, and research.
The department’s mission is to detect and effectively treat increasingly common and diverse pathologies while respecting patients and their relatives.
Organised into 6 services, the department offers a very broad and diverse range of care including inpatient care, multidisciplinary outpatient care in various forms and intensities, organised according to the principles of community psychiatry, as well as specialised programmes and units. The department provides integrated, clinical, and structured quality teaching for doctors in training, raising awareness of psychological, biological, and social dimensions. It also offers structured theoretical training in the three main psychotherapy models, as well as individual and group supervisions included in the training curriculum.
The department also actively supports research pathways that meet a high standard of quality.
Finally, the department seeks to understand the origins of mental disorders through cognitive and affective neurosciences, a true flagship of the Geneva site. To this end, it conducts patient-oriented academic and clinical research of high quality.
Job Description
In line with your training pathway towards obtaining your psychiatry and psychotherapy title, you will join a care unit within the department and provide psychiatric and psychotherapeutic follow-up, either inpatient or outpatient, for the patients of your unit within a multidisciplinary team.
Alongside your activity, you will benefit from integrated, clinical, and structured postgraduate training of high quality according to the requirements of the FMH for obtaining the specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy.
You may also participate in ongoing research activities within the services. Support is available if you wish to pursue a doctoral thesis.
Integrated quality training meeting the requirements of the Swiss Medical Association (FMH), including practical training through clinical activity and theoretical training across all fields of psychiatry as well as the three main psychotherapy approaches.
As part of your training, you will rotate through the different services of the department according to your chosen training pathway.
In addition to practical and theoretical training, participation in psychotherapy supervisions and conferences is included.
The department covers the entire training.
Qualifications
You hold a federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
Experience in psychiatry and/or somatic medicine is an asset.
For non-French-speaking candidates, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required. Please attach a certificate confirming your language level when applying.
