Child Psychiatrist - Crisis Outpatient Service

A cantonal public law institution, the CNP is tasked with leading the health policy of the canton of Neuchâtel in the field of mental health, in collaboration with partner institutions. The CNP aims to rehabilitate patients suffering from mental disorders through the adoption of an integrated and community psychiatry model; it implements public policies for the promotion and prevention of mental health; it acts as a reference centre in the field of professional training and research in psychiatry.

The Childhood-Adolescence department of the Neuchâtel Centre for Psychiatry (CNPea) organises its activities around specialised units covering the entire spectrum of care, from emergency to general consultation (in Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds), including complex hospital and outpatient units. The total workforce amounts to 77.8 FTE.

The Complex Intensive Outpatient Unit specialises in complex cases requiring intensive follow-up at home or on an outpatient basis. It has 15.70 multidisciplinary FTEs, with a high density of caregivers, psychologists and social workers.

Child Psychiatrist - Crisis Outpatient Service

As part of your role you will be required to:

o develop direct and continuous clinical practice with patients within the emergency crisis liaison pathway

o participate in discussions on patient indications and referrals

o conduct individual, family and network therapeutic interviews

o supervise the multidisciplinary team (15 FTE in roles including nurses, psychotherapist psychologists, assistant doctors and senior doctors)

o participate in the TIPP programme in collaboration with the Adult department

o assist and replace the chief medical officer in the medical management of services

o develop plans and programmes necessary to achieve the objectives decided by the medical management and the department

o organise collaboration and multidisciplinary work with external CNP partners

o participate in the implementation of internal and external training programmes

o contribute to the institution's research activity

o participate in meetings, institutional activities, and the updating/development of diagnostic and therapeutic methods used

The skills required for this position are as follows:

o hold an FMH postgraduate specialist title in child psychiatry and psychotherapy or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO

o have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior clinical position or equivalent in the care of adolescents presenting acute or complex disorders

o have developed skills in brief therapy

o have a spirit of interdisciplinary teamwork and networking

o demonstrate leadership and have a sense of planning, negotiation and flexibility

o demonstrate good skills in managing multidisciplinary teams

o possess a sense of listening and collegiality
