Documentary Credits Officer

About the role

For a financial institution based in Geneva, we are looking for a Documentary Credits Officer to join an international banking environment.

The role focuses on the processing and execution of documentary trade finance transactions for an assigned portfolio of clients, including Import & Export Letters of Credit, documentary collections and commercial guarantees.

Key responsibilities

• Process and ensure the timely, accurate and efficient execution of customers' and correspondents' instructions relating to documentary credit transactions.
• Handle Import & Export Letters of Credit, documentary collections, commercial guarantees and related trade finance instruments.
• Provide technical support and advice to clients, Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain regular and professional communication with clients in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
• Ensure effective communication regarding changes or developments resulting from documentary transactions.
• Work closely with colleagues and supervisors when required to ensure smooth execution of transactions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures relating to documentary trade finance.

Your profile

• Banking diploma, CFC Banking, Maturity or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in documentary credits within a bank, ideally in a strong Commodity Trade Finance environment.
• Solid theoretical and practical knowledge of documentary trade finance transactions.
• Good understanding of the relevant rules and practices governing documentary credits.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently.
• Fluent French and English, both written and spoken.
• Precise, rigorous and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable working with IT tools.
• Strong team spirit and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and international banking environment.
