Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Institute of Microbiology
The Institute of Microbiology (IMU) of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DMLP) is seeking a biomedical analysis technician at a workload of 80% to 100%, on a permanent contract, for its microscopy, antibiotic resistance and culture laboratory. The starting date is scheduled for 1 April 2027.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Institute of Microbiology (IMU) is an academic centre bringing together around 140 staff around three main missions: microbiological diagnosis of infectious diseases, applied and fundamental research, and teaching.
Its diagnostic sector includes several specialised and accredited laboratories. The microscopy, antibiotic resistance and culture laboratory processes nearly 300 samples per day and has a team of 21 staff members.
Thanks to an automated chain, state-of-the-art instruments and phenotypic identification and mass spectrometry techniques, the laboratory performs analyses for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes to detect pathogens. It works closely with other IMU laboratories to ensure a comprehensive approach to infectious disease diagnosis.
Mission
- You perform microbiological analyses in accordance with laboratory procedures and requirements
- You actively participate in quality system management
- You contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory, particularly regarding infrastructure, equipment and supplies
- You participate in on-call duties.
Profile
- You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician ES issued by the Higher School of Health (ESsanté) or an equivalent qualification; for foreign diplomas, recognition by the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is required
- You have experience or solid knowledge in bacteriology, acquired through professional experience or training internship
- Experience in parasitology and/or mycology is an asset
- You show a strong interest in IT tools and automation
- You enjoy teamwork and have good collaboration skills
- You demonstrate rigour, precision, flexibility and discretion.
