Contributing to Switzerland’s electricity supply
In this demanding role, you provide technical support for the development and design of the Swiss transmission grid. Your main tasks include:
- Developing requirements for integrating new technologies, such as batteries, data centres and HVDC lines, into the Swiss transmission grid
- Contributing to the development of the future strategic grid, ensuring coordination within Swissgrid and collaborating with partners and customers
- Providing technical expertise within the company and supporting system design
- Offering specialised support to development projects and stakeholders, and acting as technical client for internal and external mandates and studies
- Identifying and analysing technological developments and trends relevant to grid development, then deriving implications and necessary measures for future system operation and construction of new grid elements
- Representing Swissgrid’s interests within national and international bodies (e.g. AES, ENTSO-E) as well as with relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring content consistency and development of key regulations and main industry documents in your area of expertise
Here is how you make a difference
For this position, we are looking for a person who values teamwork, works reliably, in a structured and quality-conscious manner, and has strong technical skills to support the development of the Swiss transmission grid. You have the following qualifications:
- University degree, possibly complemented by a doctorate, in electrical engineering or a related field
- At least five years of professional experience in energy supply and/or industry, in a specialised or technical role
- In-depth knowledge of relevant energy system technologies and concepts (e.g. converters, batteries, data centres, HVDC)
- Good understanding of transmission grid operation and knowledge of its various components
- Strong personal motivation and initiative, with a proactive and autonomous approach
- Ability to convey your knowledge and experience, to convince management and external partners with solid arguments, and to reach common positions
- Very good command of German, as well as good command of English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.

Its scope includes both classic grid planning, with lines and substations, and new topics such as batteries, data centre integration, compensation installations and HVDC connections. Our goal is to develop tomorrow’s grid so that Switzerland can be supplied with electricity efficiently, safely and sustainably.
