About the job
The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Basel is seeking an Administrative Staff Member for the Political Science division starting 1 January 2027.
Your Tasks
You will organise and manage the Political Science departmental office on behalf of the department and support staff and students as a team member in administrative and organisational matters in coordination with the division management. Your main duties include student advising, planning of course offerings, rooms and personnel, managing the department’s accounts and associated SNSF and third-party funded projects, as well as planning/organising events (such as the first-year student event).
Your Profile
You enjoy contact with students, are service-oriented, flexible, communicative, a team player, numerically inclined and well organised. You have a commercial or comparable qualification, write and speak German with a confident style, and possess excellent English skills. Additional foreign languages are advantageous. Experience in a coordinating or assistant role as well as knowledge of the university environment, especially university curricula, is beneficial.
You are comfortable with common Office applications and have a strong affinity for digital platforms. Experience in managing and using social media channels is desirable. You are accustomed to working with a high degree of independent work and time management.
