About the job
Do you want to build robust data solutions, explore practical uses of AI, and help our clients transform their ideas into operational results? Do you enjoy both designing reliable pipelines and developing analytics, machine learning or GenAI use cases?
At Synchrotech, we support SMEs, public administrations and large companies in French-speaking Switzerland in their data modernisation, Business Intelligence and AI innovation projects. We are looking for a hands-on, curious and pragmatic person capable of designing, developing and driving adoption of high-value business solutions.
Your mission:
- Lead and execute Data Engineering projects, from data extraction to delivery, to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Design, develop and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines tailored to analytics, machine learning or GenAI needs.
- Model data according to business and technical requirements: star, snowflake, Data Vault models within medallion architectures.
- Develop clear analyses, dashboards and indicators, notably with Power BI.
- Prototype and then industrialise AI use cases: predictive models, business assistants, RAG, LLM integration, process automation or specialised agents.
- Implement best practices for quality, governance, security, documentation, testing, versioning and CI/CD.
- Work on several projects simultaneously, with autonomy, prioritisation skills and close collaboration with internal teams and clients.
- Facilitate workshops, challenge requirements, translate business challenges into concrete solutions and support users in adoption.
- Contribute to the development of Synchrotech’s Data & AI offers, standards, accelerators and best practices.
Profile sought:
- Proven experience, ideally 5 to 8 years, in Data Engineering, Data Platform, Analytics Engineering or a similar role.
- Strong command of SQL, Python and concepts of data integration, transformation, orchestration and optimisation.
- Experience with tools such as Azure Data Factory, SQL Server/Azure SQL, Data Lake, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks or equivalent technologies.
- Solid foundations in data architecture, modelling, data quality, governance, security and performance.
- Experience in data visualisation, ideally with Power BI, and ability to design understandable, business-oriented analyses.
- Good knowledge of data science or machine learning: data preparation, feature engineering, model training or evaluation, understanding limitations and biases of approaches used.
- Experience or strong interest in LLM architectures, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration and AI API integration.
- Ability to rapidly prototype, test hypotheses, measure result quality, then structure a maintainable and industrialisable solution.
- Comfortable with a code-first approach, AI-assisted development and development copilots, while maintaining high standards for quality, documentation and security.
- Mastery of modern development practices: Git, Azure DevOps or equivalent, CI/CD, testing, code reviews, technical documentation and team collaboration.
- Ability to communicate with business and technical stakeholders, facilitate workshops, simplify complex concepts and defend architectural choices.
- Fluent in French and professional English; German is a plus.
- Autonomy, curiosity, team spirit, service mindset, rigour and eagerness to learn.
What we offer:
- A permanent contract with a start date as soon as possible according to your availability, ideally full-time to allow strong engagement on our client projects.
- A visible and responsible role within the Data & AI team, with the possibility to influence our technological choices, methods and offers.
- Varied projects with clients in French-speaking Switzerland, in demanding business environments where quality, reliability and operational value truly matter.
- The opportunity to work on current topics: data platforms, BI, automation, LLM, business assistants and industrialisation of AI use cases.
- An environment that values autonomy, knowledge sharing, technological watch and learning by doing.
- Certified training with technology partners, mentoring and medium-term career prospects towards lead or expert roles depending on performance and company needs.
- A respected work-life balance, with flexibility, friendliness and modern offices in Martigny or Carouge.
- A culture based on high quality standards, trust, diversity and inclusion.
A real plus: share with us a portfolio, a GitHub, a notebook, an AI prototype, a dashboard, a demo or a personal project. We appreciate profiles who build, test, learn quickly and know how to turn an idea into a usable solution.
