The Clair Bois Foundation is a private organisation benefiting from a service contract with the State of Geneva. Across its six sites located in Pregny-Chambésy, Lancy (Child and Adolescent Centre), Pinchat, Chêne-Bougeries, Chêne-Bourg and in the City of Geneva (Adult Centre), it welcomes people with multiple disabilities. It also supports young people in initial training and employs a significant number of staff in adapted employment.
The Foundation is looking for its Operations Centre: A Carpenter
Job Description:
Within the Foundation's technical service, you will ensure, according to internal requests, the manufacture, maintenance, repair and renovation of infrastructures, furniture or equipment, mainly in wood.
Versatile, you will also act as an operations agent to support the various activities of the technical service. You will thus contribute to the proper functioning of the infrastructures and equipment of the Foundation's sites.
In consultation with your management, you will organise your workload in line with the needs of internal clients and the prioritisation of tasks.
You will propose solutions adapted to the needs of the sites and beneficiaries, taking into account quality, safety, durability and cost-effectiveness.
You will carry out projects according to established plans, select appropriate materials, ensure assembly, installation and adjustment of the manufactured elements. You will also ensure basic maintenance of tools, machines and equipment used in the workshop.
In all your activities, you will supervise and support employees, apprentices, interns and people in adapted employment in their professional development, promoting their integration, autonomy and skills development.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, repair, renovate and adapt furniture, wooden elements or specific equipment. Carry out carpentry work based on internal requests, plans or identified needs.
- Ensure assembly, installation, adjustment and finishing of manufactured elements.
- Perform maintenance and repair interventions on existing infrastructures and equipment.
- Participate in the general activities of the technical service as a versatile operations agent. Plan interventions taking into account priorities, site constraints and beneficiary needs.
- Propose technical solutions that are adapted, durable and economically relevant. Ensure routine maintenance of tools, machines and equipment used in the workshop.
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene and quality rules in the execution of work.
- Supervise and support employees, apprentices, interns and employees in adapted employment.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a carpenter or equivalent training.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Strong skills in manufacturing, repair, renovation and installation of wooden elements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans.
- Ability to propose practical, adapted and economical solutions.
- Experience in an institutional, social or medico-social environment is an asset.
- Experience in supervising apprentices, interns or employees in integration is an asset.
- Sense of responsibility, autonomy and ability to manage priorities. Good knowledge of safety rules related to the use of workshop machines and tools.
- Good knowledge of common computer tools.
- Swiss nationality or valid permit.
