The IVIF (In Vivo Imaging Facility) platform of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the Department of Education and Research of the CHUV is seeking a radiology technician for the research laboratories to strengthen its team under a fixed-term contract of 2 years.
The IVIF (In Vivo Imaging Facility) platform at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine’s Department of Education and Research at the CHUV is seeking a radiology technician for its research laboratories to strengthen its team under a two-year fixed-term contract.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education.
The In Vivo Imaging Facility (IVIF) platform, developed in 2019, offers a cutting-edge preclinical imaging service for the entire Faculty of Biology and Medicine as well as for researchers in the Lake Geneva region. Its missions are multiple: to communicate, maintain, calibrate and control the quality of a fleet of about twenty instruments spread over two sites, as well as to train researchers on the instruments and help improve animal welfare by respecting the 3Rs. The imaging modalities cover all resolutions ranging from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray microtomography (microCT), positron emission tomography (PET), as well as ultrasound, bioluminescence, fluorescence.

The imaging modalities cover all resolutions, from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray microtomography (microCT), and positron emission tomography (PET) to ultrasound, bioluminescence, and fluorescence.
Mission
- You will provide a multimodal imaging service on rodents for researchers, including preparation and imaging of mice for users, according to their requests, within the IVIF premises at SE-C (Epalinges) and at the Agora Cancer Center (CHUV campus in Lausanne). This position is mainly based at SE-C; the expert may also be required to go to the Agora Cancer Center site depending on needs (after consultation with the IVIF manager)
- You will ensure the daily supervision of instruments at the SE-C building in Epalinges (main workplace for this position) as well as at the Agora Cancer Center, including quality assessment, maintenance and consumables.
- The candidate will provide a rodent multimodal imaging service for researchers, including, training and imaging mice for users as requested, within the IVIF facility at the SE-C (Epalinges) and at the Agora Cancer Center (Lausanne CHUV campus).This position is primarily located at the SE-C; the expert may also be required at the Agora cancer center site on an as-needed basis (as per discussion with the IVIF manager)
- Provide daily oversight for instruments at the SE-C Building Epalinges (primary location for this position) as well as at the Agora Cancer Center, including quality assessment, maintenance, consumable.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in medical radiology technology or an equivalent qualification
- You have skills in MRI image acquisition and analysis. Experience in other in vivo imaging techniques (CT, PET, radiotherapy, optical imaging) would be an asset, as well as a service-oriented attitude and pedagogical skills
- You are proficient in spoken and written English
- Skills in radioprotection would be an asset
- Experience in animal experimentation would be an asset.
- Bachelor of Science HES in Medical Radiology Technology or equivalent
- Expertise in MRI image acquisition and analysis. Experience in other in vivo imaging modalities (CT, PET, Radiotherapy, Optical imaging) would be a plus along with a sense of service and pedagogy
- Competency in spoken and written English
- Radioprotection expertise would be a plus
- Animal experimentation would be a plus.
