Job description

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva benefits from an enriching multicultural dynamic to which it contributes through its influence within the framework of its mandates: teaching, research and its partnership with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).

The Zootechnics service offers accommodation services to the highest international standards, in compliance with the animal experimentation laws in force in Switzerland, while providing quality technical services to UNIGE researchers.

To strengthen its team, the Zootechnics service is currently looking for a:

Scientific Assistant 2 at 10%

The main mission of this position is to contribute to the scientific, regulatory and organisational management of the Zootechnics Service. It will notably ensure the administration and development of the management software tools for animal facilities, as well as support teams and researchers in their use. It will provide scientific and regulatory expertise in the field of animal experimentation and participate in the continuous training of staff. It will also contribute, in close collaboration with the manager and the management team, to the operation and development of the Zootechnics Service.

Main tasks:

• Administration of the animal facility management software.
• Provide regulatory and scientific support for aspects related to animal facilities.
• Responsible for the continuous training of animal technicians (animal preparers).
• Contribute to the ordinary management of the Zootechnics service.
• Commissioner and expert for the health-social professional training centre.

Required title and skills

• PhD in biology or equivalent training
• Module 2 in animal experimentation
• Experience in biomedical research using genetically modified rodents (10 years)
• Experience in administering animal facility management software (10 years)
• Proficiency in software environments
• Knowledge of Swiss animal protection legislation
• Management training
• Rigor and organisation
• Good communication skills
