Milieu Therapist FPA 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and the largest closed institution for men in Switzerland. With around 400 detention places and approximately 300 employees, it contributes according to legal mandate to the protection of the public and at the same time creates the conditions for the resocialisation of the incarcerated persons.
In the area of inpatient adult forensic psychiatry, a multidisciplinary treatment team of around 25 people cares for clients with court-ordered inpatient measures according to Art. 59 of the Swiss Criminal Code. The offence-preventive psychotherapeutic treatment is embedded in a milieu therapeutic setting in the Forensic Psychiatric Department at JVA Pöschwies.
To strengthen our treatment team, we are looking for a motivated milieu therapist from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Key worker duties with treatment planning and support of a pro-social and treatment-promoting milieu
- Development and implementation of individual case-related milieu therapeutic treatment measures taking into account the psychological and physical resources of the clients under measures
- Participation in ensuring and further developing reliable correctional-organisational and security-relevant processes in the FPA (e.g. ensuring hygiene, catering, laundry changes, sick reports and mail)
- Planning, conducting and evaluating accompanied therapeutic outings and holidays with the clients under measures
- Active interdisciplinary collaboration and networking with the entire treatment team of StEF, the work partners of JVA Pöschwies and the probation and enforcement services
Your profile
- You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence (EFZ), (specialist) Matura, specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification
- Ideally, you have experience in the penal system, especially in the areas of care or work/employment
- You are characterised by a mature and conflict-capable personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Your pronounced team and communication skills support successful collaboration
- You are open to an interdisciplinary way of working and willing to learn continuously
