Laboratory Technician

The water protection laboratory conducts analyses on waters and in the vicinity of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Based on investigations of wastewater and sewage sludge, substance inputs, burdens and risks to the environment can be detected early and the effectiveness of measures assessed. The expertise within the team also supports the assessment of water pollution and enables well-founded reporting.

Your tasks

• In this role, you primarily support our team in the Canton of Zurich with the operational execution of sampling and subsequent laboratory analyses
• Your focus is on the precise implementation of analytics
• On-site sampling: carrying out routine sampling at private and municipal wastewater treatment plants in the Canton of Zurich
• Laboratory analytics: conducting chemical-physical examinations of the collected water samples as well as sample preparation and processing of sewage sludge
• Supportive activities: assisting with the processing of water pollution cases (laboratory analyses) and supporting the team during technical malfunctions

Your profile

• Completed training as a chemical laboratory technician, environmental technician or a comparable qualification
• Ideally demonstrable experience in the field of wastewater analytics or in the environment of wastewater treatment plants
• Confident handling of MS Office; experience with LIMS is a great advantage
• Valid driving licence category B (mandatory for sampling tours)
• Good written and spoken German skills
