About the job
The Green Space Maintenance team trims over 5,000 linear metres of hedges at the right time, maintains the climbing plants along the total 2,500 metres of noise protection walls, cares for lawns – embankments or entire parks –, ensures colourful, seasonally planted areas and thus shapes the unique appearance of the city of Thun.
We are looking for a gardener starting 1 March 2027 or by arrangement
Your tasks:
- You organise and carry out modifications and renovation work in public facilities
- You professionally maintain park and avenue trees, shrubs, perennial plantings and seasonal flower beds
- You organise and supervise the practical training of our apprentices in green space maintenance
- You lead and organise the group assigned to you and support your superiors professionally
- You are committed to promoting biodiversity in the city’s green spaces
- You assist with snow clearance and ice control, provide winter on-call duty if required and work in other departments of the civil engineering office during staff shortages
You bring with you:
- Training as a landscape gardener or green space specialist with several years of professional experience and very good knowledge in garden maintenance, modifications and stonework
- Solid plant knowledge as well as knowledge in tree care
- Driving licence category B/L/E and good basic knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Preferably completed trainer course or interest in attending one
- A modular further education from Oeschberg, specialising in garden and landscape construction, or comparable further education is desirable
- Good leadership and organisational skills as well as good manners, trustworthiness and team spirit
