Fixed-term for 6 months from September: Senior Physician / Consultant in Geriatric Psychiatry 80-100%

You will work on a manageable geriatric psychiatric ward with 12 beds in an acute hospital. The setting is deliberately calm and structured, yet professionally demanding, as complex geriatric-psychiatric conditions are treated.

Everyday communication is strongly influenced by Swiss culture – an understanding of Swiss German is therefore a great advantage, even though standard German is naturally used for medical communication.

The role is clearly defined from the start: you will take responsibility at senior physician level within an existing team and contribute to the stability of care during a transitional phase. There is also the prospect of a permanent position if there is mutual interest.

Your responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the medical care of patients on the geriatric psychiatric ward
• Diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in older adults
• Independent work at senior physician level in an inpatient setting
• Collaboration within the interdisciplinary team (nursing, therapy, medical colleagues)
• Support and guidance of assistant physicians
• Ensuring continuous and high-quality care

Your qualifications:

• Specialist title in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
• Experience in the Swiss healthcare system
• Solid knowledge in the inpatient sector, ideally in geriatric psychiatry
• German language skills at C1 level, ideally understanding of Swiss German
• Structured, independent working style as well as teamwork skills
• Initial experience in a leadership or responsible role is an advantage
