Social Worker in Family Social Counselling (80%)
The Counselling Department supports low-income families in psychosocial and financial matters and offers telephone short consultations, debt counselling, social counselling for families as well as mobile social counselling.
We are looking for a social worker to join our family social counselling team from 15 November 2026 or by arrangement due to retirement.
Within the framework of family social counselling, you make a valuable contribution to supporting families affected by poverty in the canton of Zurich. Your tasks are varied and practical:
- Advising families living at the poverty line in the canton of Zurich
- Supporting and accompanying families in securing their livelihoods, especially in the areas of finance, housing, education and coping with everyday life, as well as promoting sustainable prospects within the framework of independent case management
- Telephone and personal short consultations for those seeking help
- Taking on coordination tasks within the social counselling team
- Contributing to the media and public relations work of Caritas Zurich, e.g. through professional contributions, case examples or involvement in events
You enjoy advising people in challenging life situations. You recognise the conditions for sustainable change even in small steps. Complex contexts do not unsettle you; on the contrary, you approach them with composure and full curiosity. The resources, strengths and independence of those seeking advice are your focus. You meet them with appreciation and respect.
In addition, you bring the following:
- Completed degree in social work with several years of counselling experience
- Competence and enjoyment in counselling in an intercultural context
- Knowledge of the Swiss social system
- Experience with the allocation of financial support within counselling settings is an advantage
- Efficient, independent and pragmatic working style with a touch of humour
- Enjoyment of working in a small team
Start date: 15.11.2026 or by arrangement.
