The Office for Information Technology (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and cantonal applications for the directorates, authorities, judiciary, and independent institutions. Tasked with implementing the new strategy for information and communication technology (IKT), the Office for Information Technology supports the Canton of Zurich in the digital world.

As part of the cantonal project “Platforms and Data Centers (PRZ)”, we are fundamentally restructuring our IT landscape – and are looking for committed professionals who will carry and shape the change.

Your tasks:

• In this newly created role, you will take responsibility for the stable operation and further development of our data center platforms – in collaboration with our outsourcing provider:
• Ensuring smooth IT operations according to the Plan – Build – Run – Maintain model
• Coordination and management of the outsourcing provider in daily operations
• Further development of the infrastructure based on technical requirements
• Promotion and implementation of automation solutions together with the providers
• Execution and support of changes to the infrastructure
• Monitoring and processing of tickets as well as documentation of the work
• Quality assurance for installations, upgrades, and restorations
• Creation and maintenance of system documentation, checklists, and recovery processes
• Review and evaluation of sourcing strategies and provider services
• Ensuring smooth IT operations of our various interface systems according to the Plan – Build – Run – Maintain model

Your profile:

• Several years of experience in the operation and engineering of IT infrastructures, ideally in the data center environment
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience in service management
• Experience in collaboration and management of external IT service providers
• Know-how in automation (e.g., with scripts) and performance tuning
• Structured, solution-oriented working style and high personal responsibility
• Strong communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork
