Security begins with people who act attentively, take responsibility and keep an overview even in challenging situations. As part of the security team at the University Psychiatric Centre (UPZ) Bern, you contribute to ensuring that patients, staff, visitors and the infrastructure across the entire clinic site are safe. In this varied and responsible role, you ensure safety in the daily clinic operations and especially in the forensic wards. You identify risks early, act consistently and proportionately in incidents, and work closely with the medical and nursing teams as well as with external emergency organisations. Your presence, professional demeanour and ability to remain calm and confident in demanding situations are crucial.
Your tasks
- You monitor the entire clinic area and conduct regular patrols, lock-up rounds and security checks
- You ensure compliance with safety regulations particularly in the forensic areas and, if necessary, accompany and secure high-risk patients
- You respond professionally, proportionately and decisively to disturbances, aggression, violence and other security-relevant incidents and initiate the necessary interventions
- You take a central role during alarms and emergencies, secure the scene, provide first aid and coordinate cooperation with internal departments and external emergency organisations
- You operate and monitor security technology systems and ensure defined first-level support in the absence of technical operations personnel
- You take shift responsibility in the logistics service, coordinate security personnel and ensure smooth and seamless security operations
- You document security-relevant incidents and ensure the necessary flow of information through precise reports and reliable communication
- You work closely with medical, nursing and other internal specialist departments and implement legal requirements, internal guidelines and security standards
Your profile
- You have experience in security services, ideally in a demanding environment
- You are resilient, attentive and remain calm and composed even in challenging situations
- You present yourself confidently, respectfully and reliably and can assert yourself appropriately according to the situation
- You have a strong sense of responsibility and security awareness as well as a reliable and conscientious working style
- You enjoy working in a team and communicate clearly and professionally with different professional groups and external emergency personnel
- You bring technical understanding and ideally experience in handling security technology systems
- You are decisive and willing to take responsibility
- You have good German language skills, both spoken and written, and are willing to work shifts
