Here’s what you can look forward to. Welcome to the agile Release Train Technical Operations of SBB Infrastructure! As a highly qualified data engineer, you develop and maintain data-centric applications in the RAMSI team that significantly improve the operational management of facilities. Together with the specialist departments, we make data from failures, train delays, inventory, weather, and IoT usable across various channels to enable fast and precise problem resolution – RAMSI is the fault memory of SBB infrastructure. With your experience, you strengthen our agile team and help to further develop RAMSI together through innovative solutions.
Benefits such as a free GA travelcard, discounted travel abroad – also for the family – can be found on our website under Benefits .
What you can achieve.
- In this exciting role, you build data pipelines, operate and further develop them on SBB’s Enterprise Analytics Platform, which combines batch and streaming approaches.
- You integrate a wide variety of data sources via APIs/Kafka, enabling analyses, dashboards, and predictive maintenance.
- You design data products and semantic models on Snowflake and Power BI.
- You further develop RAMSI – from the web application (Java Spring Boot/Angular) to reports and dashboards for our specialist users.
- In close collaboration with the business, you gather requirements and ensure sustainable solutions in operations.
- You share your knowledge and experience within the team and contribute to professional development.
What you bring with you.
- Strong communication skills and team orientation with the willingness to work together with our specialists to develop concrete solutions and promote the professional development of other data engineers.
- An agile, independent, and solution-oriented working style with pronounced reliability and willingness to take responsibility for the quality and sustainability of technical solutions.
- Several years of practical experience in designing, building, developing, and operating cloud-based data platforms with a modern data stack (ETL/ELT, data warehouses, streaming, orchestration – e.g. Snowflake, DBT, Helm, Argo Workflows, Kafka).
- Ability to design scalable and cost-efficient data architectures and critically assess trade-offs between latency, consistency, and costs.
- Experience in data modelling (star/snowflake schemas) and reporting with Power BI, advanced SQL skills, and knowledge of query performance optimisation.
- Software engineering skills in Python, including testing, CI/CD, packaging, and deployment best practices.
