Department of Clinical Research
Start of employment: 15.09.2025 or by agreement
The Department of Clinical Research (DCR) is an academic point of contact to support clinical research at the University of Bern and the university hospitals. It unites several academic research units, specialized methodological departments, a Clinical Investigation Unit, a subunit for Medical Data Science since 2025, and a planned unit for Gender Medicine starting in 2026.
The DCR is a multidisciplinary institution that serves as a central point for expertise, innovation, strategic leadership, modern pedagogical approaches, and integrated infrastructure to support clinical research. It supports clinical researchers throughout the entire research process, from planning to implementation of the study. The DCR maintains close collaboration with the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern and the university hospitals.
The DCR plays a leading role in Switzerland in the area of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI). This involves the active involvement of patients and the public in the planning, execution, and dissemination of research. PPI helps ensure that research is relevant and transparent and is oriented towards the needs and priorities of those it is intended to benefit.
