Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Institute of Pathology (Research)

The Institute of Pathology is seeking a biomedical analysis technician at an 80% workload, on a fixed-term contract of one year, with the possibility of renewal. The starting date is scheduled for 1 October 2026.

This position is part of a research project in oncology aimed at generating spatial transcriptomics and single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) data to map tumour heterogeneity and predict the efficacy of anticancer treatments.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

The Institute of Pathology provides diagnostic clinical activity to guide patient management and contribute to therapeutic decisions. It is accredited according to ISO 15189 standard.

Mission

• You work closely with doctors, scientists, and the various laboratories involved in the research project
• You prepare histological sections and perform HE staining
• You manage the project database and sample handling
• You prepare samples for spatial transcriptomic profiling and perform multiplex immunofluorescence protocols
• You digitise slides and manage the project’s digital bank
• You maintain the various equipment
• You participate in managing reagent and consumable stocks and ensure their replenishment
• You undertake any other tasks related to your field of expertise.

Profile

• You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician from the Higher School of Health (ESsanté) or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Swiss Red Cross
• You have good knowledge of histology; experience in spatial transcriptomics or molecular biology is an asset
• You are comfortable with common IT tools and have the adaptability to use new software
• You have excellent command of French, both spoken and written, and can understand scientific English
• You are proactive, versatile, conscientious, and dynamic, with good communication and adaptability skills.
