Tasks
As City Clerk, you support and advise the City Council in the performance of its leadership and government duties. You see yourself as a strategic sparring partner and central coordination point for the City Council and contribute significantly to a forward-looking and effective management of the city.
In the political and administrative day-to-day business, you work closely and confidentially with the Mayor.
Your main tasks include:
You advise the City Council and the Mayor on strategic, organisational and institutional issues, ensure professional planning, legally and procedurally flawless preparation and follow-up of government business, and support the consistent implementation of decisions.
You bear the overall responsibility for the internal and external communication of the city and ensure a professional flow of information and good cooperation between the City Council, administration and parliament.
You lead the City Chancellery as well as the communication and personnel departments and contribute to their continuous development, particularly in positioning the city administration as an attractive employer.
You bear the overall responsibility for implementing the location and economic promotion strategy and coordinate the corresponding activities with the administration, economy and other partners.
You lead and accompany strategic projects and change processes and promote a modern, efficient and service-oriented city administration.
You ensure the proper, efficient and reliable organisation and conduct of votes and elections.
Profile
As a politically sensitive personality with pronounced analytical and strategic thinking skills, you quickly grasp complex issues and focus on the decision-relevant points. You combine high quality standards with pragmatism and implementation strength. You address risks and options openly, respect political decisions and ensure their loyal and professional implementation.
For this, you bring especially:
a university degree, preferably in law, economics, political or administrative sciences;
several years of leadership and management experience, ideally at the interface between strategic leadership, politics and administration;
profound knowledge of public law and a good understanding of the political system and institutional processes in the canton of Zurich;
proven project management experience;
strategic and conceptual strength as well as the ability to structure, prioritise and advance complex matters;
confident German as well as solid English skills in spoken and written form.

You can expect an extremely varied and responsible activity with scope for design, short decision-making paths and close exchange with the Mayor, the entire City Council and the management of the administration.
We offer you contemporary employment conditions, a modern workplace infrastructure and a committed and professional working environment in a collegial team.
