Public Eye takes a critical look at the impact of Switzerland and its companies on economically disadvantaged countries. Through investigative work, advocacy, and campaigning, we denounce injustices originating in Switzerland and demand respect for human rights worldwide. Supported by its 29,000 members, Public Eye acts here for a fairer world. Public Eye employs around 40 staff at its Zurich and Lausanne offices.
To strengthen its Investigations & Advocacy team, Public Eye is looking from 1 January 2027 or by agreement for:
"Raw Materials" Journalist (Investigations and Reports) at 80%
Do you want to put your pen at the service of an NGO that believes we can help change the world by shedding light on hidden facts of public interest? Then this position might be for you!
In this exciting role, you will conduct investigations and reports in lower-income countries, focusing mainly on human rights violations and economic crime in the raw materials sector. You will write for Public Eye's magazine and website, and present your research findings in the media and at events aimed at a broad audience. You will also contribute to political projects, campaigns, and the strengthening of investigative work within the NGO.
Your profile:
- University degree or from a university of applied sciences, or equivalent practical experience
- Several years of professional experience as a journalist, with a strong emphasis on reporting and investigative work;
- Proven expertise in at least one of the following areas: raw materials sector; human rights and ecology; economic crime (especially corruption);
- Strong motivation for fieldwork, including in sensitive areas;
- Excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to analyse and synthesise complex research results;
- Native French speaker, with very good knowledge of German and English – Spanish and Portuguese are a strong asset;
- Autonomy, initiative, and flexibility (annualised working hours);
- Enjoyment of teamwork and project management;
- Identification with the goals and values of Public Eye.

A varied and demanding job within a multidisciplinary team committed to a dynamic non-governmental organisation. A salary in line with NGO practices (between CHF 88,100 and 97,800 depending on experience for an 80% rate), 5 weeks’ holiday, and good social benefits.
