Job description:
In your new role, your duties impact the quality of patient care. Your role will notably include:
- Ensuring the coding of acute and rehabilitation hospital cases for all GHOL specialties, according to ICD and CHOP classifications, respecting current regulations, ensuring faithful reflection of medical and nursing care.
- Validating the final coding in Opale, checking the completeness of the file, the coherence of the obtained DRG, and associated variables.
- Guaranteeing the justification of coding for cases followed with payers and within quality controls, defending the institution's interests as best as possible.
- Actively participating in coding closures (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Maintaining active monitoring and anticipating changes in coding catalogues.
- Collaborating closely with doctors and nursing teams to ensure complete documentation and comprehensive coding.
- Raising awareness among doctors and medical-nursing teams about the importance and impacts of coding.
Other activities:
- Ensuring the completeness and quality of stay documentation to guarantee precise and compliant coding.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of coding tools and associated support materials.
- Proposing and implementing improvements aimed at optimising medical documentation and coding processes.
- Actively participating in working groups and institutional reflections aimed at strengthening the quality of clinical documentation and coding.
- Contributing to the optimisation of the ICM through appropriate valorisation of medical documentation and efficient use of coding tools.
Contributing to training;
- Maintaining and developing skills through regular participation in continuing education.
- Integrating and applying changes in coding catalogues in daily practice.
- Actively contributing to internal continuing education by sharing expertise.
- Participating in the integration and training of new colleagues.
Required profile:

- Minimum 3 years of confirmed experience in the role
- Experience in the hospital sector
- Excellent mastery of SwissDRG and ST-Reha tariff structures
- Analytical skills and ability to propose solutions
- Flexibility and good stress management
- Good command of IT tools (Soarian, Portpat, Opale, Kodip, Intensive Care)
- Interest in innovation and new developments related to your sector
Education level:
- Higher education diploma or equivalent qualification in the medical, nursing or medico-technical field required (ideally nurse with operating theatre specialisation).
- Medical coding training certification desired
- Federal specialist diploma in medical coding would be an asset
