About the job
SONCEBOZ is a Swiss technological and industrial group (1300 employees), a world leader in the mechatronic drive systems sector.
Partner to a demanding international clientele in the Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, Off-Road, MedTech, Building Automation sectors, etc., innovation and the development of new technological solutions are strong growth drivers for SONCEBOZ.
Are you passionate about precision mechanics and enjoy understanding, dismantling, adjusting and ensuring the reliability of complex tooling?
You might be our future Mould Maintenance Mechanic.
The position is located at the Sonceboz-Sombeval site (canton of Biel).
Within the Tooling Maintenance team, you work on injection moulds ranging from approximately 200 kg to 1 tonne, single or multi-cavity.
Your daily tasks notably include:
- Performing preventive maintenance on moulds after production: dismantling, inspection, cleaning, checking various components and reassembly
- Preparing and inspecting tooling before returning it to production to ensure proper functioning
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out corrective maintenance interventions, especially in case of breakage or stoppage requiring rapid action;
- Performing adjustment, grinding and traditional machining operations necessary to restore tooling condition
- Working on various equipment integrated into the moulds: hot runners, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pressure sensors…
- Carrying out high-precision dimensional checks using appropriate measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, profile projectors...
- Reading and interpreting 2D and 3D technical drawings
- Identifying and proposing technical improvements to tooling to enhance reliability and performance
- Recording interventions in the CMMS and providing clear reporting to the Maintenance Manager
- Ensuring good communication between teams and with production workshops.
You have expertise in:
- precision mechanics and fitting
- traditional machining
- flat and cylindrical grinding and ideally conventional lathe work
- reading drawings and dimensional tolerances down to hundredths of a millimetre
- traditional control and measuring methods.
Knowledge of electricity, hydraulics and pneumatics will also be appreciated.
What will make the difference?
Beyond your technical expertise, we are looking for a person who is rigorous, methodical and autonomous.
Mould maintenance requires great attention: very similar components, numerous cavities, precision parts and fragile equipment. You therefore know how to methodically organise your dismantling and reassembly and work meticulously, including on operations performed under a binocular microscope.
You also enjoy investigating the root cause of a problem and do not just restore equipment: you are able to propose improvements to ensure the long-term reliability of the tooling.
The position is organised on a 2*8 shift schedule.
Ideally, you have a technical qualification such as a Professional Baccalaureate in Toolmaking, Toolmaking Technician or equivalent, and significant experience in tooling maintenance or manufacturing.
Experience of around 5 years or more in a plastic injection moulding environment, mould making, precision mechanics or industrial tooling is a real asset.
