A mandatory conciliation procedure usually precedes the conduct of a judicial civil process. The procedure mainly serves the attempt to mediate an amicable solution between the parties to a civil dispute. The choice of the locally competent conciliation authorities in the judicial district is the responsibility of the district court. Anyone who has the right to vote is eligible; residence in the respective judicial district is also required for the activity (Art. 9 of the Ordinance on Conciliation Authorities).
The Mediation Office St. Gallen consists of the part-time employed mediator and the part-time deputy. It has a part-time staffed secretariat.
The District Court of St. Gallen, as the electoral authority, is looking for a committed and competent person for the Mediation Office St. Gallen as of July 1, 2026, following the retirement of the long-standing office holder.
