Social Deacon

The Evangelical Reformed Church Community of Uster, with over 9,000 members, is one of the largest church communities in the canton of Zurich and is actively committed to intergenerational community work with diverse offerings.

What to expect

• Needs-based continuation of existing offers for people aged 60+ (lunch table, holiday week, excursions, individual case assistance, etc.)
• Promotion of the participation and enabling church with a special focus on participation opportunities and empowerment for people aged 60+
• Volunteer management and coaching of volunteers together with the diaconate team
• Participation in community events and diaconal projects
• Networking and cooperation with partners in the city of Uster such as clubs, institutions, politics (city and municipal council)
• Chairmanship of the "Visiting Service Uster" association in cooperation with the Catholic Church Uster and Pro Senectute (see also  www.besuchsdienst-uster.ch )
• Intergenerational work

You bring

• Diaconal training (TDS / CAS Diakonie) and/or social work / socio-cultural
  animation / community animation (FH / HF).
• Several years of experience and joy in diaconal work in a church environment
• Strong social skills, empathy, and joy in working with older / elderly people
• Openness to participatory, co-creative processes with a view to the entire church community
• Independent, structured way of working and openness to (interdisciplinary) teamwork
• Identification with church values and beliefs (member of the Reformed Church)
• Willingness for flexible working hours
• Promotion of community
• Confident German (spoken and written)
• Experience in handling IT tools
• Courage and openness to try new things
