About the job
Would you like to take on responsibility in emergency medicine? Here you will find clear structures, a manageable team, no night shifts, and the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of the emergency department.
You will work in a specialised hospital in Northwestern Switzerland, in the Basel area and close to the German border, focusing on musculoskeletal medicine and emergency care. The region is particularly attractive for doctors from Germany – both for commuters and for a long-term move to Switzerland.
The emergency centre is clearly structured and deliberately organised independently: it is a pure emergency post with a main focus on musculoskeletal injuries – without additional duties on other wards. Operations run in a two-shift model between 08:00 and 20:00, without traditional night shifts.
The team currently consists of 2 senior physicians, a deputy senior physician, and a junior doctor. The emergency centre is in a clear growth phase: patient numbers are increasing, spatial capacities are being expanded, and the medical services are being developed step by step. For you, this means a rare combination of an existing structure and genuine scope for shaping.
Your responsibilities:
- Independent care of emergency patients with a main focus on musculoskeletal emergencies
- Taking responsibility in clinical daily routine as a senior physician / consultant
- Supervision and support of junior doctors
- Working in a clearly structured two-shift operation
- Active participation in the further development of the emergency centre
- Shaping processes, workflows, and medical standards
- Close collaboration with other hospital specialties
Your competencies:
- Specialist title in General Internal Medicine, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesia or Surgery, ideally with the additional training in Clinical Emergency Medicine SGNOR
- Several years of clinical experience in emergency care
- German language skills at least at level B2
- Interest in a long-term role in emergency medicine
- Enjoyment in contributing to and actively shaping a growing setting
- For applicants from abroad: Medimeo supports you with advice and financially in recognising your diplomas as well as with all steps regarding the MEBEKO permit
Your benefits:
- Flexible workload up to a maximum of 80 %
- Clearly structured working day in a two-shift operation (08:00-20:00)
- No additional ward duties – clear focus on emergency medicine
- Opportunity to actively contribute to the expansion of a growing emergency centre
- Direct influence on processes and structures through manageable team size
- Collegial environment with short decision-making paths
- Working in a specialised hospital with a clear medical focus
- Very low tax burden as well as attractive pension and social security solutions
- High quality of life in a border region with very good infrastructure
