Group Management Administration and Central 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Pre-Trial Detention Centers Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for pre-trial and security detention. One of these prisons is the Limmattal Prison (GFL), located in the district building Dietikon, which together with the Horgen Prison Department (GFH) offers 121 places for detainees. In addition to a department for adult detainees, the GFL has a strictly separated youth department as well as a crisis intervention department.
For the management of the administration and central office at Horgen Prison, we are looking for a committed, open-minded, and humorous personality who takes responsibility and keeps an overview, starting April 1, 2026, or by agreement.
This is your area of responsibility
- Personnel management and team development according to JuWe's leadership principles "trust, let go, experiment", including deployment planning and daily organization
- Responsibility for controlling processes in the entire area of responsibility as well as co-responsibility for essential administrative tasks
- Ensuring smooth operation of the central office and the services offered, especially reception and access control, visitor management, video surveillance, alarm systems, and information flow
- Ensuring safety and compliance in the area of responsibility, including adherence to regulations, security procedures, data protection, and handling crisis situations
- Responsibility for security and building technology, including communication and personal protection systems, locking systems, external and internal surveillance, coordination of maintenance, upkeep, and renewals with internal and external parties
- Overall responsibility for accounting, petty cash, inmate cash, and inmate accounting in cooperation with the responsible specialist
- As part of the management team, actively shaping optimizations, projects, and organizational development of GFH
What you bring
- Completed vocational training with several years of professional experience, ideally in correctional services or a comparable security-relevant environment
- Confident, engaging personality with initial leadership experience and enjoyment of responsibility and leadership tasks
- Technical understanding and experience with security systems and surveillance systems are an advantage
- Very good PC user skills and confident handling of digital work environments
- Strong communication skills, social competence, and service orientation towards internal and external stakeholders
- Sensitivity and resilience, ability to build relationships and maintain professional boundaries, calm behavior in crisis situations, independent and team-oriented working style
- Fluent German in spoken and written form; knowledge of at least one other language is an advantage
- Willingness for on-call duty as well as weekend and special services according to the duty roster
- Willingness to actively pursue professional and personal development
