JOB PURPOSE:
The Commis de Rang position at Izumi is a key role in the work organization. Acting as an intermediary between production and service, it is important to maintain excellent relationships with colleagues, and consistency in work attitude is essential. The main task of the Commis is primarily to supply the sections with food, drinks, but also the material in view of the client; it is necessary to combine physical skills, elegance, refinement, and empathy to be in line with the hotel’s image.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The ability to wear the uniform every day.
The ability to offer restaurant guests distinguished and pleasant service in accordance with Four Seasons standards.
The ability to anticipate guests’ needs.
The ability to perform both opening and closing service of the restaurant; know how to set tables according to required standards.
The ability to clear and store linen, porcelain, silverware, glassware, drinks, and food.
The ability to move chairs or tables quickly in case of changes in table and cover arrangements.
The ability to serve dishes while explaining their content.
The ability to serve water, bread, and butter during the meal.
The ability to serve coffee and tea; satisfy all requests according to Four Seasons quality criteria.
The ability to ensure guest satisfaction and handle any problems that may arise; know how to inform a manager.
The ability to serve at the Bar des Bergues, Il Lago, Room Service, or Banquets during "crunch time".
The ability to report any minor or major incidents to the Head of Service.
The ability to react calmly in an emergency situation within the hotel.
The ability to perform other tasks or projects assigned by the Hotel or Restaurant Management.
The ability to respect and carefully handle the costly equipment provided to the restaurant.
Apply and master the quality standards related to your function.

Swiss Nationality, Swiss residency authorization or EU citizen will be considered only.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Know how to carry trays correctly and safely, know how to clear and straighten tables.
Know how to assist the Chef de Rang as much as possible.
Know how to fill chafing dishes with alcohol for burning and maintain them.
REPETITIONS:
Continuous walking all day. Carrying rather heavy silver-plated metal trays. Maintaining silver-plated metal equipment. Repetitive cleaning of porcelain plates with vinegar. Repetitive cleaning of silver-plated cutlery.
PREREQUISITES:
1. Excellent reading, writing and oral skills in French and English.
2. 6 months of experience in catering.
