About the job
You can count on our team: professionally and personally. Become part of it.
The University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) Basel are one of the leading psychiatric clinics in Switzerland. Our goal is the continuous improvement of the treatment of our patients to achieve their best possible quality of life.
The Clinic for Children and Adolescents (UPKKJ) is part of UPK Basel and fulfils the care mandate for the canton of Basel-Stadt in outpatient and inpatient care. The tasks of UPKKJ include, in addition to university research and teaching, psychiatric and psychological diagnostics as well as the treatment of mental disorders in children and adolescents, taking into account their family and social environment.
The Parent-Child Treatment (ELKI) helps families with children aged four to eleven years, where both the child and a parent are affected by psychological stress. In the programme, the affected parent and the child are treated in parallel, with both being admitted as independent patients. The aim of the treatment is to improve the relationship between the parent and the child and to reduce stress in the family. The parent learns to better manage their own feelings and to set clear boundaries for the child. At the same time, the child learns to strengthen their social and emotional skills. The entire treatment usually lasts 18 weeks and takes place on an outpatient and day-patient basis.
