The position is attached to the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents , which aims to provide quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and to address the health issues faced by newborns, children and adolescents from birth up to 16 years of age. It works on developing cutting-edge services and specialist competence centres.

The Neonatology and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit cares for any newborn, infant or child whose vital functions are threatened and who requires monitoring or therapeutic intervention within intensive care medicine.

The teams support patients and their families in these crisis situations, undertaking all necessary and possible measures to improve the quality of life and survival of children whose condition requires specialised monitoring or treatment.

As a nurse specialised in neonatal and paediatric intensive care, you independently and/or under medical delegation provide specialised and comprehensive nursing care to any newborn, child or adolescent in situations of varying complexity.

You involve parents in the care of their child and consider them as partners with appropriate support. Working with premature babies and supporting parents during this particular life moment will be part of your daily routine.

You work in the neonatal and paediatric intensive care units and actively participate in the supervision and teaching of new nursing staff, students and other healthcare professionals.

Through your professionalism, you contribute to the development of care quality and research in the health sector.

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a nursing diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.

You possess the EPD-ES intensive care nursing expert diploma or are willing to undertake this training at the HUG (see below).

Assets include experience in a level 2/3 Neonatology unit; a certified paediatric training (DAS SEAF or equivalent); and experience in acute paediatric care.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, enjoy teamwork and adapt easily to new professional environments. Your autonomy, rigour and ability to prioritise make you a precise professional in carrying out assigned tasks and responsibilities.

You have excellent abilities to manage stressful environments while remaining responsive. Your professional peers recognise your interpersonal skills, ability to take a step back and well-developed communication skills.

You have an interest in supporting relatives, particularly in parenting support. You plan to develop skills in the paediatric field.

This competency assessment is an online training requiring several hours of commitment (approximately 10 hours) and invites you to immerse yourself in the reality of specialised services through self-assessments and educational materials to develop your skills.

Once you have completed the MOOC in full, your final assessment will be included in your application file and will serve as a basis for discussion during selection interviews.
