About the job
As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Hardware Product Owner & Development Engineer for a temporary assignment until 31.12.2029, with high probability of extension.
Roche Diagnostics is seeking a versatile Product Owner & Hardware Development Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary (mechanical, electronics and firmware design) laboratory instrumentation team in a dual-function role. The time will be split between hands-on hardware development (electronics or mechanical engineering) and driving the team's agile delivery according to the Scrum/Kanban approach (part of the SAFe framework). In the PO capacity, this role partners closely with Product Management to translate the overarching Product Vision into an actionable, high-quality Team Backlog. The core responsibility will be Backlog Refinement, skillfully breaking down complex Features into granular, well-defined User Stories. The position owns tactical prioritization to ensure the team consistently meets its Iteration Goals. Leveraging a strong technical background, the candidate will actively collaborate with engineers to prioritize technical debt and architectural enablers. Crucially, this role acts as the primary, transparent interface managing communication between the development team and external stakeholders.
As a hardware development engineer, part of the time will be dedicated to translating technical requirements into robust electronic designs while carefully considering costs, reliability, tolerances, and serviceability. The engineer designs functional electronic/mechanical architectures and ensures all system interfaces are properly defined and integrated. The specialist works closely with different disciplines (firmware, software, test, electronics and mechanical engineering) to execute instrument integration tests. The role authors, reviews, and maintains comprehensive technical documentation to ensure full compliance with internal processes and medical device regulations. Collaborating across boundaries, the position participates in technical reviews with stakeholders from R&D, Operations, and Customer Support, while also managing technical communication with external suppliers.
The Perfect Candidate is a senior electronics or mechanical engineer with product development management experience within the medical device industry.
