Utilities / Steam Service Manager

As the Utilities / Steam Service Manager, you define and lead the operating, securing, and modernising strategy for the production and distribution facilities of utilities within the Monthey industrial park. You are responsible for their safe, reliable, and efficient operation as well as the continuity of supply. You also assume overall responsibility for the Electrical Reserve Power Plant programme and ensure compliance with the commitments made.

  • Ensure the safety, availability, and performance of the production and distribution utilities facilities
  • Guarantee the continuity of steam and other utilities supply and the quality of services provided to site partners
  • Manage network operations by coordinating internal production, external suppliers, and user needs
  • Define operational priorities and ensure effective planning of operating and maintenance activities
  • Monitor the technical, energy, environmental, and economic performance of the service using relevant indicators
  • Control production and distribution costs of utilities and contribute to budget preparation and monitoring
  • Anticipate risks related to supply security, equipment obsolescence, and dependence on external suppliers
  • Contribute to defining and implementing the site’s steam and utilities strategy, particularly within the framework of the energy transition
  • Identify investment needs and collaborate with Asset Management, Maintenance, and project teams to ensure the sustainability of facilities
  • Assume responsibility and overall management of the Reserve Power Plant programme
  • Ensure compliance with commitments made to the Federal Office of Energy (OFEN), Swissgrid, and other relevant partners
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, environmental, and internal requirements applicable to the service’s activities
  • Develop effective collaboration with industrial partners, energy suppliers, and various company departments
  • Lead teams, encourage their empowerment, and ensure the development of skills necessary for future challenges
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, cooperation, and performance seeking.
  • Higher education as an engineer, ideally in energy engineering, thermal engineering, process engineering, or an equivalent discipline
  • Proven experience in managing energy facilities, steam production, or industrial utilities
  • Successful experience in leading technical and operational teams
  • Good knowledge of energy networks, thermal installations, and issues related to supply security
  • Strong ability to analyse the technical and economic performance of complex facilities and make decisions
  • Ability to reconcile immediate operational challenges with a medium- and long-term vision
  • Mobilising leadership, good communication skills, and a genuine ability to unite around common goals
  • Ease in cross-functional collaboration and managing internal and external interfaces
  • Excellent command of French; knowledge of German and/or English is an advantage.
