About the job
Power Electronics Technician
Main Mission
Ensure the design, assembly, testing, commissioning and maintenance of power converters and high current/high voltage electrical power systems on site.
Activities and Responsibilities
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair faults on power converters (from a few kilowatts to several megawatts) powering superconducting magnets or radiofrequency cavities.
Testing & Validation: Perform electrical tests on test benches and in situ (performance measurements, thermal, high precision current regulation).
Integration & Wiring: Assemble power electronic sub-assemblies (power racks, busbars, IGBT/MOSFET modules, cut-outs).
Control & Interfacing: Connect the power section to control-command systems (acquisition cards, FPGA, communication buses).
Documentation: Write test procedures, intervention reports and keep electrical diagrams up to date.
Qualifications
Profile & Key Skills
Technical: Static converters (choppers, inverters, rectifiers), power components (IGBT, diodes, SiC), electrical safety and high voltage authorisations.
Tools: High voltage oscilloscopes, network analysers, load banks, precision multimeters.
Soft Skills: Absolute rigour (strict compliance with safety standards in experimental areas), team spirit and responsiveness during technical shutdowns
