Night correspondents are agents regulating social tensions. Demanding due to working hours (evenings, weekends, and public holidays) and the exemplary postures expected, this position suits extremely motivated individuals convinced of the approach. The rounds are done on foot in all seasons, so good physical condition is essential to cover the kilometers walked.
The collaborator must be able to develop a caring and non-judgmental relationship with the population. They will be entrusted with the following tasks in particular:
- ensure social monitoring throughout the municipal territory, identify the needs of the population;
- ensure a presence of proximity through night rounds in the neighborhoods;
- engage with people in public spaces, present their role;
- intervene particularly with those facing difficulties or causing problems;
- in cases of conflict situations, participate in de-escalating tensions between individuals and/or groups in public spaces and/or in neighborhood conflicts, notably through shuttle mediations, aiming for pacification;
- report any damage, degradation, or danger observed to the relevant municipal services and relay all pertinent information to their hierarchy;
- initiate awareness and prevention actions for the entire municipality and collaborate within the framework of service projects;
- propose and lead specific projects aimed at "Better living together";
- work closely with the entire municipal network (institutional services, administrative services) and cantonal network (institutional services, police, etc.);
- participate in working groups.
The candidate must meet the following conditions:
- hold a bachelor’s degree or a professional training certificate;
- have solid experience in mediation, be capable of maintaining a neutral, calm, and caring posture;
- demonstrate analytical skills, know how to face stressful situations;
- have experience working in a team as well as good knowledge of the Geneva social, security, and health network;
- possess great listening skills and develop relationships based on trust and kindness;
- enjoy working outdoors and accept irregular working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays;
- be Swiss nationality or hold a valid work permit;
- master the French language perfectly (another language is an asset);
- have excellent physical condition;
- be a person of irreproachable morality;
- be domiciled in the canton of Geneva.
