For our Centre for Movement Disorders and Parkinson's at Neurozentrum Seefeld, we are looking for a Parkinson Nurse (40–60%).

The role combines specialised care for patients with Parkinson's and other movement disorders with participation in clinical studies. Approximately 20% of the position is dedicated to study activities within the BMG Clinical Trial Unit (CTU).

An important focus of the role is the continuous support of patients even between medical consultations. The Parkinson Nurse is the contact person for patients and relatives, coordinates clinical and organisational issues, and works closely with the treating neurologists as well as other involved departments.

Clinical Activities

• Advice and support for patients with Parkinson's and other movement disorders as well as their relatives
• Taking on part of the structured communication with patients and relatives outside of medical consultations
• Support with questions regarding medication, therapy progress, motor and non-motor symptoms, and changes in daily life – in close coordination with the treating physicians
• Advice and support for patients with pump therapies, including assistance in managing the therapy and coordination of therapy-related issues
• Advice on everyday relevant topics such as nutrition, medication intake, and sleep hygiene within the scope of nursing competence
• Conducting and supporting structured follow-up checks and clinical assessments
• Performing blood draws as well as coordinating and monitoring necessary laboratory and safety checks
• Coordination of examinations, therapies, and follow-up appointments
• Recognising and systematically recording motor and non-motor changes
• Interface work with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neuropsychology, and other involved departments
• Structured documentation of clinical course and therapy data
• Participation in quality assurance processes in Parkinson's care

Study Activities – approx. 20%

Part of the role is carried out within the BMG Clinical Trial Unit and directly links clinical Parkinson's care with ongoing research projects.

• Care of study participants together with Study Nurses, Study Coordinators, and Principal Investigators of the BMG CTU
• Coordination and conduct of study-specific visits
• Performing blood draws and supporting the processing, documentation, and organisation of study-specific samples
• Coordination of recurring examinations and follow-up appointments
• Conducting study-specific clinical assessments and ratings
• Support with screening, recruitment, and follow-up of study participants
• Structured collection and documentation of study-related data
• Organisation of parallel study processes for multiple study participants
• Collaboration with sponsors, monitors, and other study partners within the framework of the respective study

• Diploma in nursing HF/FH or comparable nursing qualification
• Professional practice licence for Switzerland is an advantage
• Experience in neurology, Parkinson's, or care of patients with chronic neurological diseases
• Experience with Parkinson's-specific therapies and especially pump therapies is an advantage
• Completed postgraduate course or specific further training in Parkinson's/Parkinson Nursing is an advantage
• Interest in clinical research; experience in clinical studies and completed GCP courses are welcome but not mandatory
• Enjoyment in long-term support of patients and communication with relatives
• Ability to independently identify clinical issues, classify them systematically, and follow up with the medical team
• Structured, reliable, and independent working style
• Careful handling of clinical and study-related documentation
• Confident use of digital documentation systems
• Very good German skills; English skills are an advantage for study activities

The position combines two areas that are closely linked in the care of people with Parkinson's: continuous clinical care and clinical research.

You will work directly with the specialised neurologists of the Centre for Movement Disorders and Parkinson's and take on an independent role in supporting patients and relatives between medical consultations.

At the same time, you will be integrated into the research structures of the BMG Clinical Trial Unit and contribute directly to clinical studies in the field of Parkinson's and movement disorders.

We offer structured induction into the clinical processes of the Parkinson's Centre as well as into the processes of clinical studies.

The workplace is located at Neurozentrum Seefeld, Seefeldstrasse 214, 8008 Zurich. Working hours are generally during the day from Monday to Friday.
