Responsibilities
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines wholesale coverage with world-class product financing and advisory expertise within one team.
GLBA Overview: We provide our issuer clients (corporates, financial institutions, public sector) with capital raising solutions, along with structured financing and commodities, forex, and interest rate hedging. Developing tailor-made products and providing strategic advice (capital structure advisory, financing schemes and capital markets) based on our worldwide expertise and in-depth sectorial knowledge, we aim to meet their financing needs. We are a top player across euro debt capital markets and won many international accolades over the years as a worldwide leader in export, project and natural resources & energy finance.
Credit Portfolio Management (“CPM”) Overview: CPM Manages the assets held across GLBA. CPM has three verticals: (i) corporates (investment grade and non-investment grade), (ii) real assets (real estate, energy, infrastructure, etc.) and (iii) financial assets (capital call facilities, middle market lending, etc.). CPM actively manages the portfolio of GLBA to maximize profitability and contribute to investment banking idea generation across M&A, ECM and Leveraged Finance for new transactions. We approve all transactions that enter the portfolio and actively work with investors to support the distribution of the portfolio across asset classes.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Manage a portfolio of large North American corporate clients in designated sector [TBD].
Prepare high quality credit applications and annual reviews on assigned portfolio, recommend appropriate credit limits, terms and conditions. This includes financial statements analysis (P&L, BS, and CF), a review of the client’s strategy, its business risk, industry dynamics, competitive environment;
Prepare and review financial projections, determine debt repayment capability as well as assure compliance with SGUS Credit Policies;
Propose and update Obligor Risk Ratings;
Actively follow and analyze credit risks (covenant compliance follow up, Unlikely-To-Pay events management, reporting of financial ratios and other key metrics, etc.)
Review all relevant legal documentation (i.e. credit agreements, Guarantee, ISDA, CSA) and propose changes as necessary to comply with SGUS policies;
Contribute to CPM mission on capital efficiency, asset rotation, portfolio hedging and profitability optimization;
Liaise with other CPM teams in the US, Europe and Asia, business lines, Bankers, legal & compliance, operations, and Risk department;
The responsibilities and duties associated with this role may evolve over time to meet changing business needs and the ongoing development of the position.
Profile required
COMPETENCIES
· Strong financial analytical skills;
· Ability to assess credit terms and conditions including financial covenants, security and collateral;
· Strong understanding of commercial and investment banking products;
· Ability to work in a team including interacting with teams located in other locations (US, India, Europe);
· Strong writing skills particularly assessing and summarizing financial transactions (credit requests, covenant waivers, etc.);
· Strong understanding of the accounting, legal and regulatory issues governing relevant sectors;
· Ability to investigate/research/synthesize data and make appropriate conclusions as to what is causing the observed results
· Ability to analyze and evaluate counterparty risk and financial condition utilizing quantitative and qualitative data.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
· Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles;
· Experience preparing financial projections under various scenarios;
· Proficiency using Word for written analysis and Excel for spreadsheet analysis
· Knowledge of capital markets/traded products and committed financing facilities.
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
· 8-10 years as credit analyst in a corporate and investment banking entity or related field;
· Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Languages: French and English
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
