The Evangelical Reformed Cantonal Church of Schwyz is seeking a Church Councillor for the Department of Diaconia and Community DevelopmentOur Church Councillor for the Department of Diaconia and Community Development has moved to the Department of Theology and Pastoral Care. The synodal nomination committee is looking for a successor for the current legislative period (2026 – 2029). We are seeking a person willing to familiarise themselves with the tasks listed below and to take on the strategic leadership of the department.
The Church Council is the executive body of the Cantonal Church and supports the six church communities. The Church Council team consists of six authority members. Further information can be found at https://www.ref-sz.ch/portrait
The Department of Diaconia and Community Development is particularly responsible for the following tasks:
• Networking and exchange with the church communities, especially in the areas of diaconia and volunteer work.
• Participation in the working group OeME – Ecumenism, Mission and Development
• Participation in the European Continental Assembly of Mission 21.
• Attendance at the "Diaconia Switzerland" conference and the working group "Church and Works"
• Co-organisation of the Central Swiss Diaconia Conference
• Participation in the Women’s Conference
• Planning and implementation of cantonal training events for volunteers in various areas as well as promoting motivation among church communities for training also outside the canton.
• Connection and exchange of expertise with specialist offices inside and outside the canton
• Participation in the monthly working meetings of the Church Council
An annual workload of 100 - 120 hours is to be expected.

You are a member of the Reformed Church and reside in the canton of Schwyz. You are a team player, empathetic, and willing to volunteer in a collegial authority.
The election will take place at the autumn synod on 7 November 2026. The office starts on 1 January 2027.
