The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. The school employs approximately 250 members of staff on its campus where we welcome approximately 850 students from over 60 nationalities, from 3 to 18 years of age.
For our PrimarySchool, we are seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate, and self-motivated
Temporary position (cover for maternity leave) from 12 January 2026 to 16 October 2026
This position is in the student support services department of the Primary School. This literacy learning support provision is specifically for Years 3 and 4 students to best meet their developmental needs. There are additional duties and responsibilities as well, in line with the teaching percentage.
Main responsibilities:
- The planning, delivery and evaluation of learning support lessons which stimulate and motivate students to fulfill their academic potential
- Collaborative teaching
- Meetings with parents and students to share progress
- Supporting classroom teachers to meet the needs of all students
- Collaboration with all members of Student Support Services and classroom teachers
- Consistent sharing of student progress and support with families and relevant external providers
- Support with internal referral processes in the Primary School, at times implementing interventions to bridge academic gaps
- Interpreting and communicating the contents of psychological and academic testing
- Creation and accurate maintenance of Individual Educational Plans (IEP)
- Tracking and consistent updating of student data to further drive instruction
Desired profile:
- A recognised teaching qualification (graduate or postgraduate level)
- High proficiency in English. Knowledge of French is an advantage
- The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate lessons that stimulate and motivate students to learn
- Knowledge of the Primary Years Programme (PYP)
- An understanding of and sensitivity to cultural variance; a work experience in an international environment is a strong asset
- The ability to meet high expectations of students, colleagues and a professional parent community
- Knowledge and understanding of targeted literacy programmes designed to target reading and writing
- A commitment to self-reflection and professional development
