City Judge and Deputy Head of the City Judge's Office (80% - 100%)
The Department of Security and Environment, with its 440 employees, includes the areas of city police, protection & intervention, registration and civil status services, environmental and health protection, as well as the City Judge's Office. The City Judge's Office is the municipal misdemeanor criminal authority of the city of Winterthur. We conduct preliminary proceedings and prosecute crimes and offenders in misdemeanor criminal matters in close cooperation with the police. To complement our team, we are looking for a motivated and team-oriented person for the versatile role in the City Judge's Office starting January 1, 2026, or by arrangement.Your Tasks
- Independent instruction, processing, and completion of misdemeanor criminal proceedings, mainly in the area of traffic law but also in general criminal law (StGB) and ancillary criminal law (BetmG, AIG, PBG, and cantonal criminal law)
- Expert and service-oriented provision of information in criminal law
- Deputizing for the Head of the City Judge's Office
- Exchange and coordination with other authorities, participation in and leadership of meetings
- Participation in and independent handling of matters from the Department of Security and Environment (consultations, etc.)
Your Profile
- Completed law degree or several years of professional experience related to criminal law; practical experience in criminal prosecution
- Interest and ability to engage solution-oriented with legal issues
- Enjoyment of personnel management
- Very good German skills and confident written expression
- High social competence and teamwork skills as well as tact in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
