To support the Shipping division and the subsidiary Shiptec AG, we are looking by arrangement for a skilled craftsman in an exciting dual role as Steam Engineer, 80-100%, permanent (m/f/d).
The Shipping Company of Lake Lucerne (SGV) AG is a company of the SGV Group and employs 450 people together with its subsidiaries Tavolago AG (gastronomy) and Shiptec AG (ship technology). As a private transport company, SGV is the leading shipping company in Switzerland.
You will work in a versatile role, i.e. during the winter you will work in your trained profession as a polymechanic at Shiptec AG and during the summer you will be deployed as an engineer on the steamships of SGV AG.
- You are responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of ships, stations, and shipyard infrastructure
- Furthermore, you take on an important interface function between departments, internal and external customers.
- After thorough introduction and training in internal courses, your tasks and responsibilities include independently operating and maintaining the steam boiler, firing system, and steam engine. Furthermore, you are responsible for the operation of the ship technology (fuel, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems).
- To operate the over 100-year-old steamships smoothly, close cooperation with the entire ship crew is essential.
- Completed basic training
- Professional experience in the trained profession
- Willingness to work irregular shifts, including weekends
- Willingness to occasionally work on-site for third-party customers / deployment area throughout Switzerland
- Independent, reliable working style
- Good physical condition, strong teamwork skills
- Age between 22 - 40
- Good German skills in spoken and written form
- Driver's license category B
