Your Tasks
Leadership: You are deputy responsible for the professional and personnel management of a specialist department with around 8 employees.
Investigations: You independently investigate criminal proceedings and clarify the true facts of a criminal offence. In addition, you conduct house searches, arrests and seizures.
Interviews: You also conduct interviews with victims and injured parties, accused persons, informants as well as witnesses.
On-call duty: You regularly perform investigator on-call duty and occasionally also assignments outside normal working hours.
Interfaces: You support employees in difficult and complex cases, work closely with the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police as well as other internal and external agencies.
Your Profile
Experience: This role requires several years of experience in criminal prosecution in the field of criminal police or police service including dealing with victims, injured parties and accused persons as well as very good knowledge of criminal and criminal procedural law.
Personality: You have a quick grasp, work in a structured and analytical manner, but are - where necessary - empathetic, possess high social competence and are highly resilient, both in terms of workload and mentally.
Training: You hold a professional certificate or a certificate as a police officer. You have at least completed the SPI basic course and are willing to attend further advanced specialist and personnel management courses including SPI FLG 1.
Language: You communicate fluently, factually and appropriately for the audience with various internal and external persons and agencies, both orally and in writing.

The Basel-Stadt Public Prosecutor's Office, which is administratively attached to the Department of Justice and Security, conducts criminal proceedings for crimes, offences and misdemeanours. It brings charges and issues penal orders as well as other final decisions such as dismissal, suspension, non-prosecution or transfer. In addition, the Public Prosecutor's Office provides both national and international legal assistance in criminal matters. These tasks are central to the administration of justice and the safety of the people in Basel-Stadt and beyond.
