The Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of St. Gallen is responsible for the maintenance and further development of the cantonal road network as well as – through the Department of Area Unit VI – for the maintenance of national roads. Over 300 employees are committed to a modern, safe, and efficient transport infrastructure.
We are looking for a
Head of Civil Engineering Office (m/f/d)
Starting from September 1, 2025, or by agreement
Workload: 80-100%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Overall management of the cantonal Civil Engineering Office
- Ensuring the maintenance and expansion of the road infrastructure
- Leading demanding infrastructure projects with high technical, financial, and political significance
- Advising the department management on all topics of the Civil Engineering Office
- Ensuring proactive, transparent communication internally and externally
- Creating decision-making bases and providing expert advice to third parties
What distinguishes you
- Persuasive leadership personality with high social competence
- Degree as a civil engineer ETH/FH or comparable qualification
- Several years of leadership experience in a similar role, ideally in the public administration environment
- Solid knowledge in project management and planning complex construction projects
- High customer orientation and understanding in dealing with political decision-making processes
- Very good written and oral communication skills
- Strong interest in sustainable infrastructure development and in the field of digitalization
